All proceeds will support Ginen i Hila' i Maga'taotao Siha Association's fundraising efforts to represent Guam as the Literary Arts Delegation at FestPac 2012, Solomon Islands

Ginen i Hila' i Maga'taotao Siha Association (From the Tongues of the Noble People) is a storytelling group, comprised of members from Guam, Tinian, and Rota. The group first formed in 2004 as the literary arts delegation to the 9th Festival of Pacific Arts in Palau. The group was later invited to represent Guam at FestPac 2008 in American Samoa, and now we are preparing to go to the Solomon Islands next year--again for FestPac.

We are looking to send a group of 20 members to FestPac, and fundraising is going to be quite competitive since there will be plenty of others who are tasked with raising their own funds to join the Guam Delegation. Our group decided that we would start holding major fundraisers this year, and this was the genesis of our idea for Miss Guåhan 2011 which will take place at the University of Guam Fieldhouse on October 6, 2011 from 7-10 pm.

Miss Guåhan 2011 is a beauty pageant for feminine, transgender women in our community who will compete for the crown. The focus of the pageant is to not only spread more awareness about these ladies but to bring out their creativity and artistic talents with their presentations of their costumes.

There are three segments to the pageant: the evening gown, the Parade of Flowers, and the CHamoru native costume. After five finalists have been selected, they will enter the final round to answer questions.
